Beneficiaries | Lunch Sponsorship Program
Our beneficiaries are the agencies that receive the revenue generated by our event, and use it to assist those living with HIV and AIDS in our community. They are on the front lines of the battle against AIDS, and we support them in their efforts.

Center for AIDS Research Education and Services [CARES]
Entering their 20th year, CARES provides people from all communities, who are living with HIV and AIDS, state of the art, comprehensive healthcare and social services in a self-empowering environment. CARES is the Sacramento area's leading provider of HIV/AIDS services and the second largest provider of those services in all of Northern California, including the San Francisco Bay Area.
CARES is a unique organization. Its model of service sets a standard where people living with HIV/AIDS can access a broad variety of programs and services. The agency's staff and physicians work as a team, addressing the many challenges that face their clients. Their work saves lives, and just as importantly, they improve their clients' quality of life. CARES continues to be one of the region's most collaborative healthcare agencies, engaging with other providers to better serve the community.
Join CARES in their mission to transform lives through HIV/AIDS care, research and community awareness.

Breaking Barriers Community Services Center
Breaking Barriers Community Services Center recruits and trains community volunteers to serve people with catastrophic illnesses such as breast cancer and HIV/AIDS, and educates our community about these conditions. Our clients come from all walks of life, from the homeless living on the streets to people who are housed but in need.
We coordinate four primary areas of services and education:
- direct services to provide transportation, household help, food delivery, and vital services to clients.
- homeless outreach and case finding to locate and connect people with services, including medical treatment and housing referrals.
- community development to raise awareness, identify resources, recruit more volunteers, and raise community support.
- education and prevention to provide interactive education, workshops, and HIV testing for people at risk.
We’ve been serving clients in the greater Sacramento area since 1995, and established ourselves as an independent agency in January 2001.

AIDS Housing Alliance
The AIDS Housing Alliance (AHA) was founded in 1994 to provide housing and/or services to prevent homelessness among People Living With HIV and AIDS (PLWH/A). AHA started with a licensed residential hospice called Avalon. With new medications many PLWH/A are living longer productive lives. Regrettably others live with compromised health and abilities.
Compounding the problem, AIDS has spread fastest among the poor and minorities, and populations where drugs and mental health problems further restrict normal lives. For individuals or families with SSI or low income jobs life is very difficult with rents approaching incomes. Many experience repeated bouts of homelessness or live on the edge. Evidence demonstrates people who have difficulty with basic needs like housing do not make health care a priority. Indeed, AHA has adopted the mantra "Housing is Healthcare".
Faced with this housing crisis, AHA has raised funds to buy and develop affordable housing which it combines with services. With grants and donations, AHA has managed to purchase the hospice facility and 31 apartments at 4 different sites. Most recently AHA bought land and has developed 60 apartments from the ground up. This very green and energy efficient complex is potentially award winning of its type. As an added feature AHA has collaborated with CARES to provide a medical exam room for on-site clinic services.
