Our event is affiliated with a variety
of cycling and recreation-based organizations to build
community
and form reciprocal arrangements that provide publicity
and support for participants.
The following cycling events generously provided invaluable
assistance and/or materials to help the NorCal AIDS
Challenge become a reality.

Action Cycling Together [Madison, WI] This is a 6-day 400-mile ride through southwestern
Wisconsin to raise awareness and funds for the AIDS
Network.

Empire State AIDS Ride [New York, NY] This is a 7-day 600-mile ride
which crosses the state of New York to raise funds
for several beneficiaries
including Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans
Frontières USA [MSF], Health GAP, AIDS Rochester,
and African Services Committee.

NorCal AIDS Challenge is a dues-paying member of the
following organizations, and supports their efforts
on behalf of bicyclists.

League of American Bicyclists [Washington, DC] The League of American Bicyclists promotes bicycling
for fun, fitness and transportation, and works through
advocacy and education for a bicycle-friendly America.
With a current membership of 300,000 affiliated cyclists,
including 40,000 individuals and 600 affiliated organizations,
this organization works to bring better bicycling to
our communities.

California Bicycle Coalition [Sacramento] The California Bicycle Coalition advocates increased
bicycle use, access, safety, and education to create
more livable communities. They do this through legislative
and government relations, advocacy, eduction, and creation
of special events.

Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates [SABA] SABA represents bicyclists in the Sacramento area,
with the objective of more and safer trips by bicycle.
Their vision is bicycling for everyday transportation
to be common because it is safe, convenient and desirable.
SABA promotes several local cycling events, including
the Emigrant Trails Bicycle Trek, which benefits the
Sacramento chapter of the American Lung Association.

The following are clubs and organizations focused
on bicycling in the greater Sacramento region. They
provide a fun and supportive environment for cycling
recreation, with most offering a variety of training
rides and events for amateur-level cyclists. You can

Chico Velo This club provides a variety of training rides in
the greater Chico area, and hosts the Paskenta Century
and the very popular and well-supported Wildflower
Century, the latter scheduled annually on the fourth
Sunday in April.

Davis Aggies As one of the largest collegiate
cycling teams in the nation, the UC Davis Cal Aggie
cycling team offers
road and mountain bike racing as well as non-competitive
riding. Recognized by the National Collegiate Cycling
Association [NCCA] as well as the United States Cycling
Federation [USCF] and the National Off-Road Bike Association
[NORBA], the Aggies compete on a collegiate level during
the school year and on an amateur/professional level
during the "off-season." Within the Western
Collegiate Cycling Conference, the team races throughout
California and western Nevada during the school year.

Davis Bike Club This club provides training
rides in the greater Davis area, and hosts the Davis
Double Century [the most
popular such event in California] and Foxy’s
Fall Century, the latter being one of the last century
events in the year.

Ophir Milan [Sacramento] Ophir-Milan is a Sacramento area women's cycling club
in their fourth year of existence. Membership consists
of a core group of approximately 25 women and at times
has been as large as 40 members. Abilities range from
intermediate riding to advance. Members are primarily
road bicyclists but many also cross over into mountain
biking.

Sacramento Wheelmen The Sacramento Wheelmen bicycling club is a nonprofit
organization for cycling and cycling-related activities.
The club was formed over 30 years ago and currently
has over 700 members. It is well known for sponsoring
the annual Sierra Century, a premier cycling event
in northern California. Guests and non-members are
welcome at all their training rides.

Sacramento Bike Hikers
The
Bike Hikers are the oldest continually active cycling
club in the Sacramento region, founded in 1968. The
club's focus is on recreational and tour cycling,
and they offer a huge variety of training rides for
all abilities and interests. Non-members are invited
to attend rides and meetings to get a feel for the
club, without obligation. The club sponsors the festive
Pardee Party cycling event, scheduled on the 1st
Saturday in April which makes it one of the earliest

Santa Rosa Cycling Club
This club provides a variety of training rides in
the greater Santa Rosa area, and hosts the beautiful
Wine Country Century scheduled annually on the first
Saturday of May.

Stockton Bike Club The Stockton Bicycle Club is comprised of cycling
enthusiasts from San Joaquin and surrounding counties
with a wide range of abilities and interests. The Club
sponsors the annual Delta Century on the first Sunday
of May, and co-sponsors [with Delta Velo] the Giro
d'Vino on the first Sunday of November. This club schedule
training rides for all abilities.

 Gay and Lesbian Sierrans/Mother Lode Chapter GLS is an official activity section of the Mother
Lode Chapter of the Sierra Club, which is one of the
oldest and most well-respected grassroots environmental
organizations in the world. The group has approximately
200 members, and is a friendly and relaxed group of
lesbians and gay men who enjoy outdoor adventures and
camaraderie, including cycling.
