As part of building a supportive and welcoming community
of Cyclists and Crew, we need to be caring and respectful
of each other. Our actions can and will affect others.
The Code of Community Conduct are the general rules
and policies of this event, but are not a substitute
for common courtesy and thoughtfulness. You may be
expelled from the Challenge for violating any of the
following policies.
Please click here for Rules
Of The Road, which is a list of how we should look
out for ourselves and
others anytime we’re on the road.
01. Pledges and Registration
Fees. These are not refundable
under any circumstances.
02. Medical and Liability. You must have proof of
medical insurance and submit a completed Medical Information
Form and Liability Waiver prior to the event. Please
note that all personal information is strictly confidential.
03. Legal Age. All participants must be at least 18
years old on or before May 18th, 2005.
04. Identification. Wear your event-provided identification
at all times. This applies even if you already have
your own identification necklace or bracelet.
05. Accountability. Participants are required to sign
in and out of designated checkpoints each day throughout
the event. This is for your safety; we need to account
for everyone at all times.
06. Alcohol and Illegal Drugs. You may not possess
or be under the influence of illegal drugs or alcohol
at any time during this event.
07. Inappropriate Behavior. Participants must maintain
generally safe and non-disruptive behavior, including
no verbal and physical abuse or harassment of others.
08. Minors and Pets. Minors under the age of 18 and
pets are not permitted.
09. Vehicles. Discourage family and friends from driving
along the route. It can create a severe safety hazard
for you and everyone else.
10. Guests. Guests may visit participants in evening
camp, but may not stay overnight. Please note that
fairgrounds may charge a small entrance fee for non-event
visitors.
11. Leaving The Event. Anyone who wishes to leave
the event [or is dismissed] must notify an event official
and sign a Release Form. We can assist you with transportation
arrangements, but the expenses are your responsibility.
Once you withdraw or are dismissed from the event,
you cannot return and are no longer covered under the
event insurance.
12. Our Message. We are the guests of the communities
along the route. Our message of compassion and tolerance
will not be heard if our behavior is seen as offensive.
13. Golden Rule. Quiet after
09:30 in the evening so others can get their sleep
and be alert on the route.
Never litter and don’t camp in undesignated areas.
We want the communities and fairgrounds along our route
to be enthusiastic about our return next year!
You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never
know how soon it will be too late.
