In response to requests from dedicated cyclists and HIV/AIDS advocates who simply don’t have the job flexibility to take off two days of work for the 4-day NorCal AIDS Challenge, the 2010 NCAC is proud to present – The Weekender! Instead of riding all 4 days of the NorCal AIDS Challenge, Weekenders ride only the last two days and 140 miles of the Challenge - Saturday and Sunday, May 22 & 23.
The following rules and procedures apply:
- The Weekender option is only available to Cyclists. Weekenders will ride the NCAC Route on Days 3 and 4 (May 22 & 23), Weekenders are also required to attend NCAC Registration on the evening of Wednesday, May 19th and join the NCAC at Colusa High School in Colusa on the evening of Friday, May 21st.
- Weekenders register under a special category and pay the same registration fee as 4-day Cyclists ($75).
- The fundraising minimum, deadlines, and conditions for Weekenders are the same as for 4-day Cyclists.
- Weekenders, along with their bicycles, luggage, and tents, will join the NCAC Crew and 4-day Cyclists for check-in and evening program at Colusa High School on Friday, May 21st between 3pm and 7pm. Dinner will be available until 6pm. They will spend the night at Colusa High School and then depart for Woodland with the rest of the NCAC in the morning.
- Until 8am on Thursday, May 6th, Weekenders may change to 4-Day Cyclist status at no extra charge. Likewise, 4-Day Cyclists may change to Weekender status for free up to 8am on Thursday, May 6th. After 8am on May 6th, there will be a $130 charge for Cyclists wishing to change to Weekender or 4-Day status. This charge will be used to cover additional catering and campground fees and will not be considered part of the Cyclist’s fundraising total.
